Sermons for the Month of May 2016

May 1, 2016 (First Sunday)
Psalm 139:1-14  “Even Our Imperfections can still bring Glory to God”
We have to make the most of what we have been given. I know that we are not poker players, but I believe as with this game, You have to play the hand that is dealt to you. We cannot become all that God created us to be until we embrace our identity- our uniqueness and our flaws. David wrote this Psalm to remind us that God is with us no matter our deficiencies. We must realize that fallacies and imperfections are just false justifications for not meeting expectations in our walk with the Lord. We will never be able to fulfill God’s purpose until we understand that we are wonderfully made, uniquely flawed, and uniquely imperfect and are reminded that there is an “upside” to our imperfection that will always bring Glory to our God. May 8, 2016 (Second Sunday)
Acts 1:12-14   “A Mother’s Love”
In this scripture text this morning, Mary along with the disciples and a few other women went to the “Upper Room Baptist Church of Jerusalem” and with a mother’s love, she brought her children to church with her(does that sound familiar to anyone). Prayers uy55555jwere lifted up to Christ and her sons experienced Jesus not just as their sibling, but as their Savior(a feat even Jesus had not done). To many of us our first introduction to Christ came through our mother’s love.                                                        Today we honor all mothers and mother figure and pray they continue to use their God given talents to encourage, to support, to care and to share with all of us this love; a special love that Jesus demonstrated at Calvary. Personally, this is the first year I am not able to hug and kiss my mother, but I know she is looking down from Heaven and I will see her again. Love you Jesus, thanks for sending mothers and mother figures in our lives. Share God’s Word today

John 6:58-69  “It’s Decision Time, Choose Christ”
I have decided to make Jesus my choice! What a wonderful declaration of dedication; what a powerful proclamation of a promise; what an awesome statement of assurance. Many declare this testimonial, but too often this becomes just a cliché(a phrase or word that has lost its original effectiveness or power). People often throw that thing out there like it is an extra pair of shoes because it sounds good on our heavenly RESUME. They seem to forget that as with any and all decisions, there are benefits and consequences. We don’t mind the benefits, but it’s the cost that we are not willing to face; Like Simone Peter, Lord, to whom shall can we go? The benefits out weights the cost; deal with it. It’s part of the package, “Choose Christ”. Share God’s Word Today

May 22, 2016 (Fourth Sunday)
Exodus 35:29-35 “Packed For His Purpose”
God called Bezalel(BEZ-uh-lel) and Oholiab(oh-HOH-lee-ab)filled them with His Spirit for the mission of building the Tabernacle. God will not call us to a task that He won’t prepare us; giving us everything we need to fulfill His purpose. He chose each of us because He knew that we were able to complete our assignment. The question is, are we, like the Israelites, willing? We were born pre-packed with Spiritual gifts and individual talents. God gives you the ability on purpose for His purpose. You have been packed for His purpose. Share God’s Word Today

May 29, 2016 (Fifth Sunday)
II Corinthians 1:8-11  “Humility has Power”
All of us are or will be going through some situations; physical, emotional or relational. Paul also went through some tough times, but he plugged into the Resurrection power of Jesus. A prerequisite for God’s power to flourish in our lives, we must admit that we need Him. God doesn’t give power to the arrogant. Humility tells the Lord, you are great and I am not. You have the authority and I do not. You are wise and I am not. I am powerless to change this situation; so I am giving it over to you. The moment “humility happens”, God brings the Resurrection power of Jesus into the situation. God specializes in bringing back to life dead conditions. If God can turn a crucifixion into a Resurrection, He can raise the expectation of a bad prognosis; resurrect a dead marriage, a dead career, or a dead dream. Humility has Restoration Power! Share God’s Word Today.  (A special shout out to all of our veterans on this Memorial Day Celebration)
